Marilyn M. Moran, 82, Of Hyde Park

HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Marilyn M. Moran, 82, a longtime Hyde Park resident, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, July 27, 2016. 

Born June 15, 1934, in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian Teetsle Gleason. 

Prior to getting married, she worked as a teller at Poughkeepsie Savings Bank. After raising her children, she worked briefly for the Dutchess County WIC Program. 

A communicant at St. Peter's Church in Hyde Park, she was a very devout Catholic and her faith and her family were very important to her. She loved being active with her children when they were young. She was an assistant coach for CYO softball and was active with both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. 

Moran loved poetry and was a published poet. She loved the beach and enjoyed spending summers at Long Beach Island, N.J. and winters at Myrtle Beach, S.C. She also enjoyed playing golf with her late husband, "Biggie" Moran. 

She met Edwin "Biggie" Moran in 1954, and they were married Sept. 3, 1955, at St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie. He predeceased her Nov. 16, 2015. 

She is survived by her son, Mark Moran and wife Donna; daughter, Monica Moran McCarten and husband John; son, Matthew Moran and wife Lisa; daughter, MauraLyn Recchia and husband Rick; son, Michael Moran; 11 grandchildren, Jason, Ashley, Jennifer, Amanda, Dylan, Casey, Ian, Lauren, Kimmie, Kristy and Allen; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, John Gleason; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Lillian Houghtaling. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 185 Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.
