Margaret 'Rita' Sussi, 93, Rhinebeck Resident

RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- Rhinebeck resident Margaret "Rita" Sussi died Thursday, Dec. 31. She was 93.

Sussi loved the fashion world, working in retail, first for Macy's Department Store, then for Bonwit Teller and Bergdorf Goodman, for a total of 28 years. She also was an assistant kindergarten teacher for five years.

She loved traveling -- visiting 19 countries -- dancing, needlepoint, playing bridge, seeking knowledge and creating beautiful watercolor art. She also volunteered at the Northern Duchess Hospital and the Starr Library in Rhinebeck.

Sussi is survived by daughter Margaret Gosiewski and son-in-law Michael; son Edward Sussi and daughter-in-law Ruth; grandson Michael Gosiewski and his wife Carrie; grandson Mark Gosiewski; granddaughter Elizabeth Sussi and her fiance Benjamin Sesser; grandson Adam Sussi and his wife Shira; great-grandson Henry Gosiewski; brother Arthur Fenaroli; sisters-in-law Serafina Fenaroli, Rosemarie Walti and Diana Delgrosso; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Aldo Sussi, only one week earlier; parents, Ettore and Antonietta (Cacchioli) Fenaroli; and brother Louis Fenaroli.

Arrangements were by Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home in Rhinebeck.

Memorial donations can be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, Northern Dutchess Hospital or the Starr Library.
