Joan Ann Marvin, 85, Rhinebeck Resident

RHINEBECK, N.Y. – Joan Ann Marvin, of Rhinebeck, died Monday, March 14 in Rhinebeck. She was 85.

She was born July 28, 1930, in Brooklyn, to Joseph and Katherine Ethel (Wylie) Fitzpatrick. She was a graduate of Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, Pa. She married Robert J. Marvin, Sr. on Oct. 2, 1954.

She was a member of the Good Shepherd Church in Rhinebeck.

In addition to working in her husband's law office, she volunteered for several charitable organizations including Northern Dutchess Hospital and Northern Dutchess Caregivers. Most of all, she took great joy in her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Joanne (Mark) Ceglarski of Bristol, Conn., Robert J. (Gayle) Marvin, Jr. of Pawling, Paul J. (Melissa) Marvin of New York, James W. (Montie) Marvin of Houston, Texas, John R. (Ani) Marvin of Rhinebeck, Maureen (David) Carroll of Newburyport, Mass., William R. (Yuko) Marvin of Rome, Italy, Barbara (Roger) Nozaki of Barrington, R.I., Ann Marie (Robert) Swann of Williamstown, Mass., and Eileen (John) Hosbein of Petaluma, California; son-in-law John P. Pollis of Rhinebeck; 34 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Marilyn Fitzpatrick, Marilyn Kelly Marvin, Julie Fitzpatrick and Shirley Fitzpatrick.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Pollis; brothers Richard B. and J. Robert Fitzpatrick; and brother-in-law William R. Marvin, Jr.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Church, 3 Mulberry St., Rhinebeck. Interment will follow at the Rhinebeck Cemetery.
