Dorothy 'Dottie' E. Graveline, 97, Longtime Hyde Park Resident

HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Longtime Hyde Park resident Dorothy "Dottie" E. Graveline died on Monday, Feb. 1. She was 97.

She was born on Sept. 12, 1918, in Brooklyn, to Edward and Cecelia Murphy DeBeaumont.

Graveline graduated from St. Peter's School in Brooklyn and St. Patrick's Girls Academy in Montreal, Canada. She was bilingual and proud of her French-Canadian heritage. 

Graveline worked in the bakery at a local A&P grocery store and at the former Wallace & Co. Department Store, in Poughkeepsie. She was a communicant of Regina Coeli Church and a member of the former IBM Country Club.The couple "did not have any children," according to obituary information provided by Sweet's Funeral Home, but she "was universally beloved by younger people who were drawn to her warm, loving and nurturing personality."

Graveline is survived by her adopted grandson, Peter. 

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Harold Graveline; and sister Marie DeBeaumont.

Visiting hours will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, in Hyde Park, follow by a noon mass at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, in Hyde Park. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, in Poughkeepsie.
