One taste of a Danny's pie, and you'll understand why.
Danny's has been the go-to place for the best pies in the northern Putnam/southern Dutchess area for quite some time.
What makes Danny's a cut above? According to owner Danny Morton, the reason is simple: premium ingredients.
Morton explains it this way: "If you have a cheeseburger - you have a bun, a burger and a piece of cheese. So when you cheat on one of your ingredients, or try to save on the cost, one-third of your product is getting harmed. So when you have dough, sauce and cheese, it's the same - if you try to cut corners in any way, your product will suffer.
"We don't cut corners," Morton added. "We use the most expensive cheese you can buy. Our sauce has premium tomatoes, and our dough is hand-made fresh every day."
Morton started working for the previous owner, also named Danny, in 1990, and took over the place in 2008. Morton sees customers come from Westchester County and from the Newburgh side of the Hudson River to get one of his pies.
Feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive. "The customers love it," Morton said. "You can't please 100 percent of the people 100 percent of the time, but you get as close as you can."
Danny's Pizza, which also serves italian wedges and many other offerings, is located at 664 Leetown Road in Stormville, right off Route 52.
