The “Find Waldo Local!” initiative was started by the American Booksellers Association and Candlewick Press. Oblong has been a part of the tradition since its inception.
Waldo is a character that came to life in the first in a book series, 'Where's Waldo? in 1987 by illustrator Martin Handford.
Waldo will be hiding at 22 businesses each in both of the towns.
Kids of all ages may pick up their Waldo “Passport” at either of the book stores on Friday, July 1 and begin their search.
Here's how it works:
When they spot Waldo at any one of the businesses listed in the passport, the store will reward the finder with a stamp or signature.
Collect 11 stamps or signatures to claim a "I Found Waldo: button and dollar off coupon.
Collect 18 store stamps or signatures to enter a drawing at the bookd store for a set of Waldo books and other prizes.
A grand celebration and prize-drawing party is set for Sunday, July 21 at noon at the stores.
