New York Woman Claims $1 Million Lottery Prize A Long Island woman has won a $1 million lottery prize. Lynn Powell, of Central Islip, claimed a top prize from the New York Lottery’s Emerald 10’s scratch-off game, the lottery announced on Tuesday, June 7. NY Lottery said Powell received her prize as a single, lump-sum payment of $585,900 after required withholdings. The ticket was purchased at the Valero that is located at 404 Clinton St. in Hempstead, the lottery said.

One Seriously Injured After Shooting At Area Gas Station A person suffered serious injuries after being shot at an area gas station, police said. Officers in Orange County responded to the Valero gas station on Carpenter Avenue in Wallkill shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Sept. 1, where there were reports of a shooting. According to police, one victim was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in serious conditions.  Investigators did not give a motive for the shooting and declined to provide the sex or other identifying information of the victim. Man Busted For Armed Gas Station Robbery In Area, Police Say A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a gas station armed robbery in the area. Orange County resident Andre McGriff, of Newburgh, was arrested by the Town of Newburgh Police for the Feb. 5, armed robbery of the Mobil Gas Station on South Plank Road, said Lt. James Nenni. Police Searching For Serial Armed Robber In Area Police are searching for an armed man who has allegedly robbed three gas station/convenience stores at gunpoint in the area. The robberies in Orange County began on Jan. 25, with the latest taking place around 1:17 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, said Town of Newburgh Police Lt. James Nenni.  The suspect is described as a stocky black male, between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall, wearing a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt, and dark-colored pants, Nenni said. Police Ask For Help Identifying Gas Station Armed Robbery Suspect The Town of Newburgh Police Department is asking the public for help identifying a man who robbed a Valero Station at gunpoint. The robbery took place around 11:18 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21 at the Valero Station, 209 S Plank Road in the Town of Newburgh, said Lt.
