Tropical Storm Paulette Expected To Become Hurricane As It Moves West Toward Bermuda Two tropical storms, a tropical depression, and three more disturbances are now active in the Atlantic. The National Hurricane Center announced Saturday morning, Sept. 12 that it has issued advisories on Tropical Storm Paulette, Tropical Storm Rene and Tropical Depression 19. New Tropical Storm Forms In Atlantic: Here's Latest Projected Path The earliest "P" named tropical storm in recorded history is now in the Atlantic. Paulette has just been upgraded from a tropical depression. It's the 16th named storm of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season.  The previous record was Philippe, which formed on Sept. 17, 2005. As of early Monday afternoon, Sept. 7, As of 11 a.m. the center of Tropical Storm Paulette was located about 1,370 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands, where the northeastern Caribbean Sea meets the western Atlantic Ocean.
