Suspect Caught After Assaulting Hudson Valley Woman Pumping Gas, Crashing Her Vehicle: Police A Hudson Valley man has been charged with a hate crime after allegedly robbing and stealing a woman's car at a gas station. The incident took place in Ulster County around 4:45 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6 at the Mobil Station on Route 209 in the town of Wawarsing. Traffic Stop Leads To Discovery Of Woman Driving Drunk With Child In Car, Police Say A strange series of events led to the arrest of a woman who was allegedly driving drunk with a child in the car, authorities announced. Members of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office stopped the driver at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 on Route 209 in Wawarsing for an expired vehicle inspection. During that traffic stop, it was determined that the driver “was not able to safely continue driving,” and she contacted a friend to pick her up at the scene to bring her home safely. Six Saved After Orange County House Is Caught In Ice Jam Six residents were rescued without injuries by firefighters in Orange County after their home was overrun with ice chunks and water, according to state Department of Transportation on Twitter. Shortly after the flooding began around 2 p.m. Friday, the DOT, along with the New York State Police closed Route 209 in Westbrookville due to the ice jam and flooding. The road is closed from Pine Kill road and Port Orange Road as officials work to break up an 8-foot wall of ice, state DOT officials said.
