First Human Case Of West Nile Virus For 2022 Season Reported In Rockland
A Rockland County man has tested positive for the West Nile virus, this season's first human case in the county. The patient lives in Ramapo, is over the age of 50 years, and tested positive for the illness, said County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert. Rockland Mosquitoes Test Positive For EEE Virus In Orangetown
The first case of a dangerous mosquito-borne virus -- Eastern Equine Encephalitis -- has been found in a test pool in Rockland County. According to Rockland County Health Department officials, the mosquitoes were collected from a trap in the Town of Orangetown on Sept. 17, as part of the county's ongoing mosquito surveillance efforts. First West Nile Case Confirmed In Rockland
Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert confirmed Friday the season's first human case of West Nile virus in a county resident. The patient is over the age of 50 years and tested positive for the illness based on clinical symptoms and preliminary laboratory findings.
