ID Released For Victim Of Fatal House Fire In Area A grandfather who died after saving his two young grandchildren from a raging house fire has been identified by police. Putnam County resident Jintu Zheng, age 65, of Lake Carmel, was found inside the burning home on Scarsdale Road around 10 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, said the Kent Police. On arrival at the home, Brewster firefighters and Kent police went into the house to look for Zheng as flames engulfed the home, police said. Zheng was found by a back window. All First-Graders Released From Hospital After Ceiling Collapses All students who were at the Madden Outdoor Education Center in Putnam County when a portion of the ceiling collapsed on Friday were released from Putnam Hospital Center by 3:30 p.m., said Ellen Lane, communications director of Putnam-Northern Westchester BOCES. The students, first-graders from Fulmar Road Elementary School in Mahopac, were at Madden participating in a lesson on the food web when a portion of the ceiling gave way at 11:30 a.m.  A teacher notified Mahopac Central School district and called 911.
