Bear Tranquilized After Climbing Tree In Town Of Poughkeepsie A black bear had to be tranquilized and pushed out of a tree by police in the Town of Poughkeepsie after drawing the attention of area residents. Officers received reports from the Arlington section of town at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28, when the bear was spotted in a tree between Taft Avenue and the Raymond Avenue extension. Police tranquilized the bear while it was in the tree and an officer climbed up and pushed it onto a safe pad on the ground below. The bear was taken away by wildlife officials at approximately 10:45 a.m. The sighting is just the latest in the Hudson …
