A reward of $2,500 is being offered for information leading to the capture of fugitive Dominick Cruz, who is wanted in January’s deadly parking lot shootings in Tonawanda, marshals say.
Cruz, 39, has been accused by police of shooting 25-year-old Mark Sternin and 24-year-old Tyler Sadauskas during a fight, killing Sternin and critically wounding Sadauskas.
Police attempted to arrest Cruz at his job two days after the shootings, but he managed to escape.
The case is a “top priority,” said U.S. Marshal Charles Salina of the Western District of New York.
“Our deputy U.S. marshals and our federal, state and local law enforcement partners will leave no stone unturned until this dangerous fugitive faces justice,” Salina said.
Authorities believe Cruz may have fled the state a few weeks after the crime. He has ties, police said, in the cities of Buffalo and Rochester; Lancaster, Pa.; Chicago; New Jersey, and possibly Puerto Rico.
Police said Cruz has an extensive criminal history and is currently wanted by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office for murder, attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Because of his history, and the nature of the crime, Cruz “should be considered armed and dangerous,” Salina said.
Police describe the suspect as 5 foot 4 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
He also has numerous tattoos to include the following: “ARC” on his ring finger, “DÉJÀ VU” on his stomach, and a cross and his mother’s name, “IYA WOCITA OYA” on his back.
