Stony Point DWI Crash Driver Charged In Passenger's Death

WOODLAND PARK, N.J. – A 20-year-old passenger was killed and the Stony Point driver charged with causing his death in a New Jersey crash, authorities said Friday.

Francisco Alberto Almonte, 29, of Tompkins Cove, was under the influence when he crashed his 2004 Chevy Impala in the Passaic County town of Woodland Park just after 6:15 a.m. Thursday, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Police Chief Anthony J. Galietti said in a joint statement.

The crash killed his passenger, whose name was being withheld pending family notification, they said.

Almonte, meanwhile, was charged with death by auto and DWI and ordered held pending a Friday afternoon court appearance in Paterson.
