Snow Blower Thieves Caught With Crack In Stony Point, Police Say

An alert resident led to the arrest of two men for stealing two snow blowers and possession of crack Saturday in Stony Point.

The resident called police around 3:20 a.m. Saturday to report two males leaving the Rental Zone on 9W in Stony Point after loading two snow blowers in the back of a van, said Lt. Daniel Hylas.

Patrol officers were given a description of the vehicle and stopped a van a short time later on 9W near Bear Mountain. Officers saw two snow blowers in the van and investigation uncovered further evidence and tools used in the crime. A glass crack pipe containing cocaine residue was also located in the van, Hylas said.

Arrested were Joseph Fleischer, 47, of Walden; and William McDonough, 37, with several Newburgh addresses, but currently homeless, and charged with criminal possession of stolen property; criminal trespass; criminal mischief; possession of burglary tools; felony grand larceny, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Both are being held at the Rockland County Jail; Fleischer on $45,000 bail and McDonough on $15,000 bail.
