STONY POINT, N.Y. -- Marie A Babcock, of Stony Point, died Jan.1. She was 83.
She was born Jan. 19, 1932, in Suffern to Joseph and Alice (Smith) Bednar. She was a lifelong Rockland County resident.
She married John S. Babcock May 31, 1953, in St. Peters Church in Haverstraw. She worked for a while as a beautician at Steve’s Beauty Shop in Nyack before leaving work to be a housewife and to raise and care for her children. She loved cooking, baking and reading cookbooks.
She is survived by her husband John of Stony Point; her children, Stephen (JoAnn) of Stony Point, Robert of Stony Point, Gary (Shirley) of Florida, Cathy of Highland Falls and Terrance of Stony Point; grandchildren Anna, Lisa, Jennifer, Stacy, Gary, Nicole and Christopher; and great-grandchildren Alexander, Callisto, Stryder, Karlee and Dalton. Also surviving are her sisters Joan Cavallo, formerly of Haverstraw, and Elenor Hydok, of Florida; and five nieces and a nephew.
