Newburgh City Comptroller Resigns Following Arrest

NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- Newburgh City Comptroller John Aber resigned Tuesday. May 24, following his arrest on theft charges, according to News 12 Hudson Valley.

He stands accused of pocketing money that was supposed to be collected on behalf of the city. Aber has been arrested and faces charges of grand larceny. 

Mayor Judy Kennedy wouldn't say how much money was allegedly stolen, but did say that it's believed Aber was skimming off the top from cash fees taken in, according to News 12.

Kathryn Mack has been appointed acting comptroller, according to News 12.
