Individuals with disabilities are invited to participate in this free program, led by LPGA golf pro Joyce Fried at the hospital's 1,300-square-foot GolfAbility location. Located right on the hospital campus, the GolfAbility Center features a synthetic putting green with six cups and three accessible netted tee areas. GolfAbility participants will learn how to use appropriate adaptive golf equipment, including single-rider carts that allow disabled golfers to play seated or standing, directly from the cart on the green.

Each session will also introduce basic golf concepts and build upon skills learned in previous sessions. GolfAbility lessons will take place Mondays from 4-6 p.m. and are limited to 16 participants. Sessions are free, and equipment will be provided, but registration is required.

Dates are May 2, 9, 16 and 23; and June 6, 13, 20 and 27. Two additional outings to Rockland Lake Executive Course will also be available for an extra fee for participants who pass pre-screening.

The GolfAbility area is adjacent to the Helen Hayes Hospital campus rear parking lot.
