Fabian Corley, 25, admitted to shooting the male victim in the back with an illegal hand gun outside of his home on March 7. Corley had just completed a drug deal with another man when the victim approached him carrying what appeared to be a handgun, the District Attorney said.

The victim then turned and ran before Corley shot him. Subsequent investigation revealed the victim was carrying a pellet gun that closely resembled a hand gun. Corley told officials he was not acting in self-defense when he shot the victim, the District Attorney said.

“Narcotics trafficking invariably leads to violence,” Hoovler said in a statement. “Too many young people have lost their lives due to narcotics, as well as to the violence associated with narcotics. No family should have to grieve for the loss of a loved one killed due to gun violence."
