NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - About 1,000 homes were without power in the city Sunday afternoon following Saturday's early season snowfall.
Con Edison said it expects that many people will have power restored Monday or Tuesday following the three to five inches of snow accumulation that fell throughout the city. However, repairs in some areas may take longer. There are no estimates yet for specific locations.
Residents are asked to report lost power directly to Con Edison at 1-800-75CONED. Any obstructed roads should be reported to the New Rochelle Police Desk at 654-2300.
Crews were at work clearing roads and downed trees Sunday afternoon. Tree limbs fell in the citys Pinebrook Boulevard section. No other major incidents related to the storm were reported.
Liz Smith and her family finally had their power restored at 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon after being in the dark for 12 hours.
Were doing great, said Smith.
The Smiths, who had a guest in town for the weekend, marked getting their power back.
Were having a big Japanese feast to celebrate, she said.
