NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The city of New Rochelle has issued an emergency message to residents warning them to beware of falling trees and asking them to report problems caused by Saturday's wet, early season snowfall.
Todays storm creates a significant risk of falling trees and branches, the notice says. "Residents are to please report downed trees on public roadways to the New Rochelle Police at 654-2300.
"If you have lost power, please contact Con Edison at 1-800-75CONED. Lastly, we recommend that you avoid any unnecessary travel.
The message is posted, along with other information, at www.newrochelleny.com.
The New Rochelle Police Department reported this afternoon it had been extremely busy, answering a large volume of calls concerning downed wires and trees.
Con Ed is reporting 108 power outages with 1,688 residents affected.
