An elementary school class in Westchester got a special surprise from the White House after reaching out to the new administration earlier this year. In New Rochelle, the fourth-grade students in Pia Persampieri’s bilingual class at the Trinity Elementary School wrote letters to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris earlier this year to discuss topics that concerned them. 19: Six More Positive Cases Confirmed In New Rochelle School District
Six new COVID-19 cases have been reported in a Westchester school district among the hardest hit by the pandemic. Interim New Rochelle Schools Superintendent Alex Marrero issued an alert to the community late on Sunday, Jan. 10 advising that there have been six individuals who have tested positive for the virus. A Westchester school district located inside one of the state’s precautionary COVID-19 micro-cluster “yellow zones” has completed its mandatory testing to remain open for in-person learning. Several new COVID-19 cases were reported in multiple schools inside a Westchester school district over the weekend. On Friday, Nov. 13, interim New Rochelle Schools Superintendent Alex Marrero issued an alert to parents cautioning that there were newly confirmed positive COVID-19 cases from students at Daniel Webster Magnet School and Columbus Elementary School. A staff member at a Westchester elementary school is among the latest to die from novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Emmy Falta, who worked at Trinity Elementary School in New Rochelle, died this week at the age of 41, Schools Superintendent Laura Feijoo announced. A popular New Rochelle educator is moving on up to Putnam, where he will serve as the newest Schools Superintendent at his hometown Mahopac School District. Trinity Elementary School Principal Anthony DiCarlo announced that he would be resigning his position on Feb. 16, when he will travel north to take the helm in Mahopac after six years in New Rochelle.
