A 41-year-old Westchester woman is facing a drug charge following a crash on the Bronx River Parkway that sent a car crashing into the Bronx River. Members of the Yonkers Fire Department were dispatched at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Monday afternoon to the Bronx River Parkway northbound lanes, near the Sprain Brook Parkway split, when a car went off the road and landed in the river, prompting an emergency rescue. Several civilians jumped into action, assisting first responders in Westchester when a car made a splash landing off the Bronx River Parkway. Expect Delays: Weekslong Sprain Brook Parkway Lane Closures Scheduled
There will be single and double lane closures on the Sprain Brook Parkway for more than two weeks as contracting crews continue construction activity in Westchester County. The New York State Department of Transportation issued an alert on Wednesday, warning that there will be closures beginning on Monday, Aug. 27 in Mount Pleasant, Greenburgh and Elmsford as crews work in the area. A large team of first responders were able to extricate two people following a serious crash on the Sprain Brook Parkway. The crash, which occurred around 3:41 p.m. Wednesday on the Sprain near Jackson Avenue and the Greenburgh/Yonkers border, left two people trapped, with one seriously injured, said the New York State Police. This story has been updated. All three southbound lanes of the Sprain Brook Parkway have reopened after a serious two-vehicle crash with injuries. The crash occurred around 3:41 p.m. Wednesday on the Sprain near Jackson Avenue and the Greenburgh/Yonkers border, said the New York State Police. State Police said the injuries are serious. Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner is suggesting a digital speed board be placed on Westchester parkways advising motorists how many tickets were issued. Dozens of motorists were cited for speeding on the Sprain Brook Parkway on Tuesday, as police conducted a special speed enforcement detail in Westchester. With local and state police agencies cracking down on drunk, drugged and distracted driving, several local residents were among nearly two dozen in the area who found themselves on the wrong side of the law. Nearly 50 tickets were doled out during a special speed enforcement detail conducted by New York State Police troopers on the Sprain Brook Parkway in northern Westchester on Tuesday.
