Police have released more information about an investigation in a Westchester neighborhood that was captured in a video posted online. In an announcement on Wednesday, April 10, the White Plains Police Department said they were aware of a video posted on the Nextdoor platform by a resident of the Rosedale section of the city who filmed officers checking on car doors in the area. A New York woman is none too happy with the social media site Nextdoor after claiming the company “hacked” her name to advertise its services. Columbia County resident Celeste Alexander, of Ghent, recently discovered that Nextdoor has been sending out letters to her neighbors, inviting them to join the site, according to a post in the Facebook group Chatham New York Community Board. Yonkers Police Turn To Social Media Network To Aid Safety, Communications
The Yonkers Police Department is turning to a special social media network In an effort to improve citywide safety and neighbor-to-neighbor communication. Police officials announced that they are partnering with Nextdoor, after using it during a several month trial period to “collaborate with neighbors to address safety concerns and respond to quality-of-life issues.” Officials said that Nextdoor enables the Yonkers Police Department to work directly with neighbors to increase safety and strengthen virtual neighborhood watch.
