Longshoremen Strike: Hundreds Of NY, NJ Dockworkers On Picket Lines
Thousands of longshoremen along the East and Golf coasts are on strike in a move that could heavily impact the economy and make it harder to get goods and services. In Elizabeth, NJ, the strike began on Tuesday, Oct. 1 outside Maher Terminal where hundreds of dockworkers rallied. Stop & Shop Workers Considering Strike
Thousands of Stop & Shop employees could go on strike as their contract with the company expired over the weekend. Members of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1445 union “overwhelmingly” voted to authorize a potential strike as they continue negotiating with Stop & Shop officials. Entergy Reaches Deal With Union On Indian Point Contract
A possible strike by workers at the Indian Point nuclear power plant in Northern Westchester has been averted. Entergy announced early Wednesday morning that it has reached an agreement with the Utility Workers Union of America Local 1-2 on a new four-year contract for the union’s approximately 330 workers at the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan. Indian Point now has a total of nearly 1,000 employees.
