School District In Westchester Marks Highest Graduation Rate In Over 20 Years
A school district in Westchester has bounced back from a turbulent year by recording its highest graduation rate in more than two decades. In an announcement on Friday, Sept. 20, the Mount Vernon City School District revealed its 2023-2024 graduation rate had climbed to 79.9 percent, a level not seen in over 20 years, according to the district. Alum To Return As New Rochelle High School Principal
A familiar face is heading back to Westchester to take over at his hometown high school. Thirty-two years after receiving his diploma from New Rochelle High School, Adofo Muhammad is returning as principal, the same place he, his mother, grandmother and children graduated. “That’s mind-boggling to me,” Muhammad said. “This is the culmination of my career, (it’s) a tremendous responsibility. The Katonah-Lewisboro School District was named the "best school district" in New York state, by 24/7 Wall St. The financial news and opinion company based in Delaware ranks Best School Districts in every state, and the survey can be accessed here. Katonah-Lewisboro has 3,233 students and spends an average of $31,154 per student, the Wall St. analysis found.
