Student Accused Of Assaulting Teacher At HS In Westchester A 16-year-old girl faces charges and disciplinary action after allegedly assaulting a teacher at a high school in Westchester.  The incident happened in Yonkers on Monday afternoon, June 5, when a 16-year-old female student at Gorton High School allegedly struck a 50-year-old female teacher, according to Yonkers Police Lieutenant Dean Politopoulos.  The student, whose name was not released as a result of her age, was then arrested on Tuesday, June 6 following an investigation and charged with second-degree assault, a Class D felony.  She was later arraigned in the Youth…

Superintendent To Retire After 25 Years Serving District In Westchester A long-serving superintendent in Westchester has announced that he will soon retire after 25 years with his school district.  Edwin M. Quezada, the superintendent of Yonkers Public Schools, will retire from his position on Monday, July 3, according to an announcement from Wednesday, April 5 by the city's Board of Education President Steve Lopez. Quezada announced his retirement in a letter sent to the board's trustees. Masterson and Anne (MacArthur) Masterson, he was born Oct. 27, 1946. Jim had lived in many places over the years and was residing in Yonkers at the time of his death. He attended Gorton High School in Yonkers and was one of the original members of the North End Surf Club. Jim was a Vietnam Era Veteran, having served honorably on destroyers in the U. S. Navy.
