Pace Field Hockey Holds Top 10 Spot In National Rankings

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- One week removed from cracking the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's Poll for the first time in program history, the Pace University field hockey team is showing no signs of slowing down.

After receiving their first-ever national ranking in mid-September, the Setters have moved up to No. 7 in the most recent rankings, after splitting a pair of contests last week.

The Setters, who are now 6-1, fell for the first time this season in overtime at No. 4 Saint Anselm. Pace earned its most recent victory last Wednesday against NE10 foe, American International College. Junior Jenna Sanossian (Miller Place, N.Y.) scored her second game-winning tally of the season to secure a 1-0 victory at home.

Pace's backline continued to impress last week, allowing just two tallies in two-plus games. Senior Margaret Maclean (Ellicott City, Md.) recorded her fourth defensive save of the season against the Hawks, while goalkeeper Lesly Sanchez Alvarez (Stamford, Conn.) made seven total saves in the two contests. So far, Pace has allowed just five goals in seven games this season.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Setters have been getting contributions from several different players. Most recently, junior Jane Kasparian (Mahopac, N.Y.) notched the game-tying goal against Saint Anselm with just 32 seconds left in regulation.
