New Rochelle Tunes For Playoffs At Ketcham

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The regular season ends for defending Class AA New Rochelle this weekend with a visit to R.C. Ketcham High School in upstate Wappingers Falls as the postseason playoffs loom next week.

The Huguenots (5-1) have righted their team after a surprising loss to John Jay in week 4, winning their last two games against Mahopac and Scarsdale, a 33-13 victory last week at homecoming. New Rochelle has secured a playoff spot but needs a win to solidify a high seed in the postseason bracket.

Ketcham (2-4) has lost three of its last four, including a 39-36 loss to Scarsdale two weeks ago, and would love to give New Rochelle a scare to finish their regular season on a high note.

New Rochelle’s defense has been its most consistent unit, posting four shutouts and allowing just 27 points in six games for an average of 4.5 per game. The offense has complied 141 points for an average of 23.5 a game.

Quarterback Khalid Edney has become more of a force with each week and the Huguenots offense has several options on the ground including Jonathan Forrest and Kemet McLean, who have alternated scoring touchdowns. New Rochelle’s speed on special teams is also a plus and the defense is as quick as any in Section 1.

New Rochelle should not allow the long bus ride and inferior opponent sap its enthusiasm and will handle Ketcham easily after dealing with the loss to John Jay earlier.
