Sophomore Mike Campbell will get the nod to start in the season opener but Mustangs coach Terry Karg also expects freshman Clayton Turner to get some time as well.
As a backup last season, Campbell threw for 421 yards two touchdowns and seven interceptions, but Karg says that Campbell is a more mature player coming into his second season.
"Mike has worked hard on a lot of the details he missed as a freshman," Coach Karg said. "His fundamentals are better and he has a much better idea of what to do with the football. I welcome his renewed sense of maturity and confidence on the field."
Turner, a freshman from Marietta, Ga., appears to have all of the physical tools to excel under center.
"He's mature, which should help him lead the offense," Coach Karg said. "He has good size and because he has the confidence to let plays develop, he throws well in the pocket. He can also throw on the run nicely. He has all the tools."
The Mustangs and their two-headed quarterback attack open their home slate on Sept.7 at 7 p.m. against Dean College.
