The kindergarten through 12th-grade event showcased student artwork highlighting Dee and many other influential figures.
Dee's daughter and granddaughter were on hand and spent the afternoon and evening at the exhibit.
Participants also met local authors, including Davis Elementary teacher Michael Eaddy, Wall Street Journal reporter Christopher Farley and Leslie Demus, president of the Billy Strayhorn Foundation.
Students performed, and there was an array of vendors selling crafts, jewelry, art and food.
