Paulin, Engel, Easily Win Reelection In Westchester

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Longtime U.S. Congressman Eliot Engel will lead the 16th District for another two years after handily winning reelection over Mount Vernon’s Derickson Lawrence on Tuesday.

Engel claimed 95 percent of the vote, with an unofficial tally of 60,754 votes versus just 3,428 for Lawrence with 52 percent of precincts reporting. Engel was running on the Democratic line, while Lawrence ran as a third party candidate.

In other local elections, Nita Lowey claimed more than 62,000 votes, running unopposed in the 17th District. Democratic Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, also running unopposed, will retain her seat in the 35th District.

In the Assembly, Scarsdale incumbent Amy Paulin easily won reelection over Conservative hopeful Anthony DeCintio with more than 20,000 votes in the 88th District. J. Gary Pretlow (89th District), Shelley Mayer (90th), Steve Otis (91st), Thomas Abinanti (92nd) and David Buchwald (93rd) ran unopposed.
