NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- “No candidate enjoys delivering a concession speech. Trust me. I’ve given two, and they hurt. But when it comes to the Presidency, acknowledging defeat is more than just a matter of graciousness, it is vital to our democracy,” New Rochelle Mayor Noah Bramson said on his website.

He was introducing his latest Huffington Post column in which he imagines what a concession speech would be like if Donald Trump loses the election.

“I am afraid the election is going to be rigged,” Trump reportedly said at an Aug. 1 rally in Ohio, remarks Bramson quoted in his column.

It led the mayor to wondering “whether he is even capable of conceding,” he said in the Huffington Post column.

Bramson likened the possibility to the 2000 Bush-Gore election in which Gore had to concede Dec. 12 after the electoral votes determined Bush the winner, even though Gore had more votes, Bramson said in the Huffington Post column.

He called Gore’s speech a “love letter to America” rather than a political statement, per the column.

"Can you imagine Donald Trump delivering a concession speech?"

Bramson asked in the column. "I can't," he continued.

"It seems far more likely Trump would question the validity of the outcome," said Bramson in the column.
