On Saturday, Dec. 3, around 2 p.m., police in New Rochelle were told that a stolen vehicle had entered the city in the area of Main Street (Route 1) and Interstate 95. After searching there, police then located the vehicle at a gas station at 819 Main St., according to New Rochelle Police.
Police found two women in the vehicle, who were both arrested after a brief investigation, authorities said.
An unlicensed 9mm handgun owned by one of the women was also found, according to police.
The two women are identified as 26-year-old Zena Johnson of Dale City, Virginia, and 22-year-old Sharney Stewart of Woodbridge, Virginia, police said.
Authorities said both were charged with the following:
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property - motor vehicle;
- Third-degree criminal possession of stolen property - value over $3,000.
Additionally, Johnson was charged with:
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon - loaded firearm;
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon - Ammo feeding device.
Both women were taken into custody without incident, according to police.
