Autistic Man In Stable Condition After Being Struck By Van In New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – An autistic man is in stable condition after being struck by a van in New Rochelle over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Police confirmed that shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning, the 20-year-old victim was struck on Cooper Drive near Boston Post Road and taken to Montefiore Hospital before being transported to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.

According to reports, the unidentified victim ran into the crowded roadway, which is lined with parked cars on both sides of the street. The investigation is ongoing, but no foul play is expected and the driver remained on the scene and spoke with responding officers.
