NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The driver in a horrific wrong-way crash that killed a man on Interstate 95 this summer was indicted Friday on multiple counts of vehicular homicide, manslaughter and driving while intoxicated according to a press release from the Westchester District Attorney's Office.

Tanisha Gomez of Ozone Park, Queens, was arraigned on three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, one count of second-degree manslaughter, one count of first-degree vehicular assault, one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated, two counts of driving while intoxicated and one count of reckless driving.

Gomez crashed head on into a car about 4:31 a.m. on July 24 as she was driving north in the road's southbound lanes in New Rochelle, the District Attorney said. Reginald Lee, a passenger in the other car, was killed.

Gomez had been driving her vehicle in the wrong direction for at least 6.4 miles in New York City and Westchester County, the release said.

Gomez, the driver of the victim's car and Lee all had to be cut out of their vehicles by emergency crews from New Rochelle, who responded to the accident along with New York State Police.

The driver of the victim's car sustained serious injuries. Gomez was also injured in the crash.

If convicted, Gomez faces up to 25 years in prison. She is scheduled to appear in court next on Oct. 18.
