New Rochelle Man Charged in Rape of 12-year-old

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – An 18-year-old New Rochelle man was charged with rape Tuesday evening in connection with an incident involving a 12-year-old girl.

Police said Richard Pedemonte met his young victim on Facebook and intimidated her into having sexual intercourse with him at his 15 Highland Ave. home on Jan. 23, according to New Rochelle Police Department Captain and Public Information Officer Joseph Schaller. 

Pedemonte reportedly picked the victim up in his car, and brought her to the residence. 

The victims parents reported the incident to police on Jan. 27.

Also on the police blotter:

-  A $300 pair of Dr. Dre headphones were stolen from a 16 year-old near the CVS Pharmacy at 625 North Ave. Tuesday afternoon, police said. 

The victim was on his way home when he was confronted by five individuals. He then went to the police department to report the incident. The victim became uncooperative afterwards.
