Nelson Acevedo of New Rochelle, who was a social worker and counselor at The Guidance Center of Westchester, allegedly engaged in various forms of inappropriate sexual contact with a patient, according the the district attorney's statement.
Acevedo is charged with sexually abusing the victim on three different occasions during counseling session in the office and raping the victim during a session at Acevedo's place of residence. The incidents took place between Feb. 1 and July 31 of this year, the statement said.
The district attorney says the victim was incapable of consent because she was a patient and the defendant was a mental health care provider and the sexual acts occurred during a treatment session.
Acevedo faces a maximum of four years in state prison on the rape charge, according to the district attorney.
His next court date is set for Tuesday, Dec. 17.
