Two men from Westchester, including a former NYPD officer, are among five facing charges for allegedly distributing meth and GBL, the U.S. Attorney announced.

Bronxville resident John Cicero, a former police officer, and Irma Materasso, of New Rochelle, were among those charged in federal court in White Plains for drug distribution offenses in and around Westchester and New York City.

Others charged are New York City resident Marco Caso, Somerset, New Jersey resident Eric Baker and Bronx resident Matthew Matteo.

It is alleged that between 2017 and earlier this month, the five men conspired to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.

It is further alleged that Caso, Cicero, Materasso and Matteo conspired to distribute the date-rape drug gamma-butyrolactone (GBL).

FBI Assistant Director William F. Sweeney Jr. said:  “As a former police officer, sworn to protect others, Mr. Cicero has seen firsthand the harm these drugs do to our society which makes the charges announced today even more egregious.

He now faces the same grim reality criminals he once locked up did - a long prison sentence, this time in a federal jail cell.”

Caso, 48, Cicero, 38, Materasso, 36, Baker, 37, and Matteo, 22, was each charged with conspiring to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.

If convicted they face up to 10 years in prison. All but Baker were also charged with conspiring to distribute GBL. If convicted, they face a maximum term of 20 years in prison.

“As alleged, these defendants trafficked large quantities of methamphetamine and GBL – a liquid date-rape drug – throughout Westchester and New York City,” Berman said. “Methamphetamine devastates communities and GBL spreads danger all over the Southern District of New York, which is why the defendants face serious federal charges.”
