Police have released the identity of the man who was struck and killed by a landscaping truck while crossing the street in downtown New Rochelle.
Peter Watson, 78, was struck by the truck shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday near the intersection of Huguenot Street and LeCount Place, near Trump Tower, police said. He was transported to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, where he was pronounced dead later that night.
The fatal crash shut down LeCount Place for several hours as police investigated. The name of the truck driver has not been released, and he was never taken into police custody. Police said they were holding onto Watson’s name until they could notify his next of kin.
