NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. Con Edison will invest $200,000 in replacing 10 power line poles and 13 spans of wiring in response to constituents' concerns about the increasing number of electrical power outages that residents of certain city streets have endured in recent months, according to a release from the office of Assemblywoman Amy Paulin.
Losing power due to a fallen tree or high winds during a storm is understandable, but frequent, unexplained outages are not, said Paulin. I am very pleased that Con Ed has taken a proactive stand to address these power outages by investing in new equipment.
The repairs will affect Baraud Road, Candlewood Road, Sage Circle, Sturbridge Place, Tewekesbury Road, Williamsburg Close and several streets in Scarsdale.
According to her release, constituent concerns about increasing electrical power outages prompted Paulin to ask Con Ed to find a permanent solution. Con Ed agreed that the number of power outages had exceeded the acceptable level, and that the outages were due to aging equipment.
Construction design is under way and work should begin within the month, the release said. The work should be completed by the end of this year.
We had numerous power outages over the past several months and finally through the help of Amy Paulin, Con Ed has agreed to remedy the situation, said New Rochelle resident Preston S. Scher. "I am very grateful for the help she rendered.
Con Ed asks residents to report outages by calling 1-800-75-CONED or visiting www.conEd.com. They will determine if the cause is due to a fallen tree or other weather-related incidents requiring immediate attention. However, if there are persistent outages for no apparent reason, Assemblywoman Paulin asks residents to call both Con Ed and her office, at (914) 723-1115 for assistance.
