The Robert Halmi Sr. Academy of Film and Television in Yonkers at 463 Hawthorne Ave. celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 23, city officials announced.
The school will teach film industry-centered courses, including production design, performance, sound design, and editing.
It's named after Robert Halmi Sr., a movie director and producer who produced more than 300 television series, miniseries, and films. He also began his career as a photographer for Life Magazine.
The school's opening was attended by the cast of STARZ's Raising Kanan, a crime drama narrated by rapper 50 Cent. This included Patina Miller, London Brown, Erika Woods, and Hailey Kilgore.
