Sound Shore Medical Center Joins the Fun at Rye Playland

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Healthy fun will be the theme when the Sound Shore Medical Center teams with Rye Playland for the 42 Annual Mayfair next month.

“As a not-for-profit hospital, SSMC is committed to community outreach, and the Mayfair event is a perfect opportunity to take lifesaving information and screenings to the public - where they live and play,” Sound Shore Medical Center President and CEO John Spicer said.

Sound Shore Medical Center will be the exclusive presenter for the eighth consecutive year at Mayfair on May 5 at Rye Playland. The event will be held from noon to 6 p.m. at the amusement park. The rain date is May 6.

Sound Shore Medical Center staff will host stations where attendees can get lifesaving information on stroke prevention, heart attack warning signs, nutritional facts and safety. Attendees can also participate in blood pressure screenings and diabetes risk assessments.

Playland will have free spectator admissions available for Westchester residents to enter for free with valid identification. This admission option does not include going on the park's rides.

The fair marks the preseason opening of the amusement park. Vendor booths will be set up throughout, featuring jewelry, artwork, crafts, hourly raffles for gift cards and giveaways as well as health-care information and screenings.

Event organizer Angela Turco can be contacted at 914-365-3468 for information about vendor opportunities. Organizer Barbara Rohonczy can be contacted at 914-365.3754 for information about the fair.
