Former Fdny Firefighter, Elio Moschetta Dies at 81

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Elio Moschetta, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died Nov. 15 with his family at his side. He was 81.

He was born Nov. 26, 1929 in Bronx, N.Y. to the late Giuseppe and Bernadina Moschetta. A US Army veteran, Moschetta served during the Korean War. He retired from the Fire Department of New York after 28 years as a firefighter. His favorite pastimes were golf and league bowling.

Moschetta is survived by his wife Dora, his sons Stephen (Noël) Moschetta of Bronxville and Elio (Dawn) Moschetta of South Salem, his brother Serino Moschetta of Valley Stream, N.Y. and three grandchildren. 

Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle. A funeral mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Holy Family Church, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
