NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. Mary Adrienne Bruno, a former director of secretarial services at Iona College, will be honored on Oct. 20. She died at the age of 79 on Oct. 7 in New Rochelle, the city where she was born.
Bruno attended St. Gabriel grammar school and high school and graduated from Iona College in 1986. In 1955, she moved back to Bronx, N.Y. where she resided until her death. In the early 1970s, as computers started to gain popularity, Bruno was a director of the first secretarial services program at Iona College.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Bruno of Tampa, Fla., her daughters Elisa Bruno-Midili with husband Ronald of Yorktown Heights and Christina Brewer with husband James of Pelham, her son David Bruno of New York City, her sister Nancy Girardi and four granddaughters.
A memorial mass will be held on Oct. 20 at 10:45 a.m. at St. Theresa Church in the Bronx, with interment at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx. A celebration of her life will follow immediately after at her home in the Bronx. Contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 122 East 42nd Street 18th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10168.
