The attack happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday, March 24, near the gas station at Main Street and Woodland Avenue in New Rochelle, according to the New Rochelle Police Department.
Officers found a 27-year-old man with a severe facial injury. He told police he had just left the Drake Main Café and was walking home when he got into an argument with two men entering the gas station.
The argument turned violent, and one of the men slashed him across the face with a scalpel, police said.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he received stitches and is now recovering, police said.
New Rochelle detectives, working with the Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center, quickly identified and located a suspect vehicle later that morning.
Police arrested 29-year-old Tyreek Brown of the Bronx without incident. He was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, police said.
The second man involved has been identified, and investigators are still determining his role in the attack, according to police.
