New Craft Booze Options May Be Headed To Downtown New Rochelle

The New Rochelle City Council has proposed legislation that will permit the production of craft beverages such as beer, cider and wine within certain downtown zones, New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson said on Tuesday.

According to a memo from the New Rochelle City Department of Development, “breweries and related uses have now proliferated with a flexible business model, including space for on-site retail sales, consumption, entertainment, as well as a variety of dining options. With certain parameters in place, there uses can be quite appropriate in a downtown area and can greatly contribute to the economy, vitality, and sense of identity for a city.”

The legislation is in its early stages. A public hearing on the proposed zoning change has been scheduled at City Hall on Tuesday, July 11.
