Why It's Kid-Worthy: AJ's -- named after Owner Alan Cohen -- is the kind of place that harks back to the old soda fountain days, albeit with updated food and drinks. Cohen says he strives to make his low-key eatery a second home to customers and are on a first name basis with many clientele. "They love it when they walk through the front door and hear 'Hi, Sal! Your order almost ready.'"
Another important element is that "everything except the sweet potatoes are homemade right in this building," he said. "Our customers know when they are eating here, there are eating the very best quality meat, veggie, etc." The motto here is "Eat the Best, Eat Homemade" What makes it even homier? Cohen's mom is there to greet customers, take them to their tables and does everything possible to make sure they enjoy their meals.
