Earlier this year, internationally acclaimed chef and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson went undercover for the hit CBS show to find and mentor a number of talented, aspiring chefs in the New York area.
His adventure ultimately led him (disguised, of course) to the Culinary Arts Center on the New Rochelle campus one Saturday morning last winter. A person he wanted to help -- a former student -- was there to cook in CINY’s kitchens for a (fake) reality show she thought she was on.
Another person Chef Samuelsson sought to find and reward was an individual with great culinary talent and potential -- but no formal training -- so that he could grant a scholarship to attend the New Rochelle culinary program. That student will attend the school in the Fall.
For those who don't know, The Culinary Institute of New York at Monroe College is an award-winning, nationally recognized culinary institute that provides students with a combination of theoretical education and hands-on experience in culinary arts, pastry arts, and hospitality management. It has been ranked one of the top 10 culinary schools in the Northeastern U.S. and in the top 20 nationwide.
