The Food Allergy Research & Education’s (FARE) Walk for Food Allergies will take place at Glen Island Park to fund food allergy education, advocacy, awareness, and research.

Last year, the Westchester walk raised more than $200,000.

Bonnie Weinbach, co-chair of the Westchester walk, told The Daily Voice, "The Walk for Food Allergy is a tremendous event. I love to see so many children with food allergies enjoying the day and meeting each other. They are used to being different than the rest of the crowd and here they all have something in common."

“We are making great progress in developing life-saving treatments and programs,” said John L. Lehr, chief executive officer of FARE in statement. “Thanks to our generous sponsors and dedicated supporters, the day will come when we say FAREwell to food allergies.”

Lee Goldberg, a weatherman on WABC-TV’s "Eyewitness News" and father of a food-allergic child, will serve as Honorary Chair of the FARE Walk in Westchester.

Sign in begins at 1 p.m. with the walk following at 2 p.m. The walk is approximately 2 miles and will happen rain or shine.

Participants can sign up to walk individually or as part of a team. For more information or to register or volunteer, visit their website here.

Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) works on behalf of the 15 million Americans with food allergies, including all those at risk for life-threatening anaphylaxis. This potentially deadly disease affects 1 in every 13 children in the U.S.
